Polyprenols Found in Pine Needles and the New Pharmaceutical Drug Ropren®

It's always interesting to find new studies/products that show the benefits of our Immune Boosting White Pine Needle Tea.  Here is a new pharmaceutical (currently only available in Russia, I believe) that is being studied in hospitals for all kinds of health issues. Our tea is still available without a prescription:-)

Polyprenols are a group of long-chain isoprenoid alcohols derived from pine needles, which can be metabolized into dolichols in the body. Dolichols are low-molecular bioregulators that play a specific role in the synthesis of glycoproteins. Bioeffective R is a sophisticated extract of polyprenols that has been developed into a pharmaceutical product called Ropren Drops. This unique natural pharmaceutical substance has a wide spectrum of applications and has been found to be free of side effects.

Metabolism failure of the isoprenoid path is observed frequently in the body during various neurodegenerative brain disorders, conditions of immunodeficiency, degenerative conditions of the neuromuscular system, liver alcohol cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis, and other disorders. This class of substances normalizes the blood spectrum by promoting an increase in high-density lipoproteins (HDLP), a decrease in low-density lipoproteins (LDLP), and very low-density lipoproteins (VLDLP).

Polyprenols are a new class of therapeutic substance with beneficially diverse mechanisms of action compared to the majority of other existing hepatoprotectors available on the market. Ropren Drops is a unique natural pharmaceutical substance with a wide spectrum of applications and has been found to be free of side effects.

International research into the production of polyprenols has been conducted in a number of countries over the last twenty years. Solagran, through its relationship with St. Petersburg Forest Technical Academy, has been a leader in developing technology to produce commercial quantities of polyprenols.

Following a series of successful clinical trials in Russia and with the intention to commercialize Bioeffective R, the Board of Solagran recognized the necessity to design, construct and finance a polyprenol production facility capable of manufacturing quality polyprenols in commercial quantities. The high-value product, Bioeffective R, had been produced in a laboratory at St. Petersburg Forest Technical Academy under the supervision of Professor Victor Roschin.

The Pharmacological Committee of the Russian Ministry of Health approved the composition of both Bioeffective R and its pharmaceutical form Ropren Drops®, which were derived from the pilot facility, as the pharmaceutical standard. Prior to the registration of Ropren Drops®, clinical trials were conducted in five major hospitals and additional trials were conducted at I.I. Skvortsova-Stepnaova Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Agishev. Since registration, further trials have been conducted at seven additional hospitals and are still continuing at the Institute of Influenza. All hospitals involved in trials of Ropren Drops® have indicated that they will be using the product.

The conducted randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with Ropren® showed earlier positive changes in the reduction of alanine and asparagine transaminase. Use of Ropren led to the normalization of the lipid spectrum of the blood that was expressed in an increase of antiatherogenic lipoproteins and a decrease of proatherogenic ones.

In conclusion, polyprenols found in pine needles and Ropren Drops®, a pharmaceutical product developed from Bioeffective R, have been shown to have beneficial effects on the human body. The therapeutic properties of polyprenols, including their ability to normalize blood spectrum, promote an increase in HDLP, and decrease LDLP and VLDLP, make them a new class of therapeutic substance with a wide spectrum of applications. Ropren Drops®, the pharmaceutical form of Bioeffective R, has also been found to be effective in cases of alcohol and therapeutic intoxication, with no reported side effects.
